YESTERDAY WAS ICE CREAM TRUCK DAY! Winter is now officially over. Per BHK -
[Error: close lj-embed tag without open tag]
BHK gave me more giant salad for yesterday's lunch... Thank goodness for tasty cheese and fresh spinach / beans! The pump diet spray-dressing isn't my fave, though.. I think I'll stick with light Italian or some other vinaigrette variant. I enjoy having healthy food that also tastes good. Dieting has made me a lot hungrier these days.
Stuffed Peppers for din-din last night. Yum and nom.
YouTube: Buzz Aldrin punches Lunar Landing Conspiracy Theorist Bart Sibrel in the Face.
According to Aldrin, he was lured to a Beverly Hills hotel under the pretext of an interview on space for a Japanese children's television show. When he arrived, Aldrin claims Sibrel was there demanding that he swear on a Bible that he had walked on the moon.
When Aldrin refused, Sibrel called him a coward, a liar, and a thief. Aldrin gave Sibrel a punch in the jaw, which was recorded. Sibrel later attempted to use the tape to convince police and prosecutors that he was the victim of an assault. However, it was decided that Aldrin had been provoked, and did not actually injure Sibrel, and no charges were filed. Many talk show hosts aired the clip, making Sibrel the butt of jokes.
Sibrel's claims of a lunar landing hoax have been widely dismissed by the scientific and space science communities.
They wanted to honor Gygax's memory. So here it is.

Baltimore aquarium / Barnes and noble / walkabout after work Friday - taken with palmtop - low quality when embiggened, mostly.
After work on Friday, BHK picked me up, and had a great idea... to hit Baltimore and go to the aquarium.. it's open late on Friday, and much less likely to be crowded as it is on the weekends. I was all for it, so off we went. After the Aquarium, we had supper at Blu Bamboo... a pretty decent little Asian fusion joint. They were getting ready to close, but we managed to sneak in for some Pad Thai, cucumber sushi, cream cheese wontons and more... I think we crossed every type of Asian food short of Mother Russia. After supper, we hit a converted power plant that's now a Barnes and Noble - very cool design - smokestacks are still there, everything is very clean and metal-riveted or industrial brick looking. I like the escalator... the sides are transparent, so you can see the gears and belts working. Favorite fish - still the skates and rays.
.
Better pictures taken with the cell phone - enlarge to better photos of Baltimore, frog exhibit, and the marine research building.

.On Sunday, we went to Alice's party.. she has a lot of nice folks surrounding her.... and her son is becoming a giant! at 14, he's grown about a head taller than when I'd last seen him (about 14 months prior.)
Rainy, cool morning today.. was our spring weekend just a glimpse of the future?

I don't think the the lj content strike is going to make a difference, and I'm more interested in seeing how much of my reading list changes, if at all this weekend. If lj poops out, there are plenty of other sites that offer similar functionality... and my RSS reader will allow me to collect feeds from whoever wants me to read 'em.
Regarding teamorange - the first colorwar2008 scrimmages will begin in a few days. I'm interested to see what sort of project Ze has in mind. So far, I've found teams blue, verygreen, puce, chartreuse, purple, gold, plaid, red, pink, white, clear and brown in addition to orange. If any other players are reading this, let me know, so I can follow you on twitter! #FF6600, baby! [update: See also - colorwars - there's a team octarine!]
It seems ol' Ze has quite a following - but I knew that. I just hope he uses his mighty net-powers for good, rather than evil.
Lunch tomorrow with Adam and his twin bro Eric. It's always interesting to see them together, because they were raised in different households. Adam, at his mom's (and more to the point, mostly at Larry & Chris's), Eric at his pop's. Adam seems to be the more together kid, athletic, better in school, less shifty. Eric is the party guy, partying hard, skipping class and spending more time looking to mate than to study; I.e. typical 18-year-old male.
Nature vs Nurture, live and in front. Both are basically good guys, and similar as brothers can be - but hardly duplicates.
I sneakily added a video to the lunchtime rendezvous entry about a week or so back. Filmed with the palm-cam, the image is warmed, grainy, and silly, not to mention in quicktime format. For some reason, google video doesn't transfer sound properly form the palm video during the conversion, so I'm hosting it in my old lj archive location on my website. Speaking of which, I have a palm doodle there that reflects that there's still a lot of rain happening at the ol' bus stop, but I don't mind.
windy, too, though I don't have that much length anymore, hair-wise.

Most of what was done and seen can be expressed in photos... sadly, you're not supposed to take pics inside. ( I did sneak one with the camera phone , however.) clicking on items below will go to larger images. No ghosts captured at the graveyard, but I had fun doing some more stitching.
My favorite bit was probably the giant bird, nest and mirrored egg outside the museum. The egg glittered like an 8 foot tall disco ball in the setting sun.
To be honest, the interfaith art exhibit didn't do a lot for me... I was more interested in the permanent items, including the kinetic sculptures art cars, and painted screens.
Guy in the green hoodie is David, BHK's cousin - I think he had a nice time with us. BHK managed to dodge my best efforts at capturing her candidly.

After getting the parents, it was about... 11ish. Well, we didn't lose too much steam - the in-laws were loaded for bear (girl scout cookies, soda-pop, and egg sammiches) we rolled out to our destination... Baltimore!
It was a bit of a drive, but the scenery was lovely, and the company was good... we all chitty-chatted about all manner of small talk.
We arrived at the Aquarium Parking garage at about noon, and headed off to see items lovely and aquatic... but it was not meant to be. The crowd there for the holiday weekend was vast... Chris didn't want to navigate that swarm of roaming tourists. Totally understandable, if a little disappointing.
Upside... we had a secondary plan of action! The B&O Railway Museum! The place is sweet for folks that dig steam / diesel engines, or rail history at all (the B&O is pretty much the birthplace of American Railroading). We got a family membership to last us the year - it turned out the snow collapse of the roundhouse was 5 years ago to the day we returned. There's still a lot of restoration going on to the trains that were hit, but most of them are in beautiful shape. BHK and I got a couple of pressed pennies to add to our collection.
(some of our walkabout pictures on flickr here. - more to follow as I upload and make some shots public that are currently hidden.)
Got pretty tuckered out after 5 or six hours there, filling my brain with train. We headed off to Annapolis for some Cheeburger Cheeburger (they'e getting a lot of play from us lately!) and then home to relax and unwind with the kitties - plans were to hang out and watch a movie with the in-laws, but they were too pooped to pop, so BHK had a lovely night together, instead.
I can haz The Entire Bible? Man, lolcats! Nice use of your spare time!
I wonder if this will win any converts in one direction or the other?

Dreamt last night about BHK and me being "gun runners" to south of the border... we were storing ensure and other high-vitamin products in the stock... the guns themselves didn't work, but were easier to bribe past the border patrols rather than food for the hungry. at one point, I though t of making the guns themselves out of chocolate or some sort of dark-colored food, but that was nixed for dream-reasons I don't recall. I remember clubbing one of the patrolmen with the butt of one of the mock-rifles and having a pinkish milkshake type substance come out... hopefully it was full of strawberry flavored protein shake.
More pics from the Paper Moon in Baltimore. decor was cute "pee-wee herman meets tim burton" painted kitsch at an angle, and the food was exceptionally good. (went on 1/17/07)
