I got out of the house briefly to babysit Tigger with BHK at the in-laws (they're off camping) and to visit the neighborhood flea market today - normally would've walked, but rolled in the love cube instead due to lack of mobility.
Spent a total of $80 today. Here is some of what we got:
- hand held police scanner (for $1!) it works!
- A big pile of books to read (William Kidd for me, a bunch of goodies for BHK)
- flash comic, seaguy comic
- 2 new iron chairs for the porch ($27)
- 4 plastic dinosaurs ($2)
- a picnic basket, complete with plates, cups and such ($5)
- a beeswax candle of a bear on a beehive
- a chocolate brownie
- 2 chocolate chip pumpkin muffins
- a yummy loaf of birdseed bread
- a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie
- 2 handmade cereal bowls - aquamarine - really pretty!
- 4 potted ranunculus, with a ton of buds (pink, yellow, orange, red)
- 2 long boxes for the flowers, plus potting soil.
- dvd player ($5) for larry
After riding around, my back was pretty rough, and BHK was feeling it too - headed home and just chilled out. I'm a little worried that I over exerted myself by just standing up and sitting down so much. Ugh.

Been waiting at the doctors office for about 30 minutes now - longer time than usual to get shots.
BHK is getting blood work done - I’m more peeved that she has to wait than me - she has been fasting since last night and probably has some low blood sugar going on.
I’m just glad they have some juice available to her for afterward.
After we finish here, plans are for me to get a haircut, a spot of breakfast and then visit Miss Tigger for some love while the in-laws are out off town on a school field trip.
This weekend is primarily set to be for catching up with work - home and otherwise.
Supper last night was buffalo “chicken” patties - celery for BHK, pickles for me. Caught up with an episode of Burn Notice and Psych, and then we toddled off to bed. Straightforward evening.

I am back from my shot- bhk getting blood work done now.
Good day sunshine going through my head, for no reason in particular. This week did not feel like a 4-day workweek. I hope next week is less demanding on my resources.
Britny’s girlfriend broke up with her the day before valentine’s day- kind of a punk maneuver. They’re best friends “with benefits” now, but are free to see other folks. That sounds a bit like a death knell for a relationship to me, but who knows how it will work out for them?
Haven’t heard a lot from Jay or Sean lately - I suspect that that Duncan hasx been giving them quite a run for their money.
It’s pretty cold in the doc’s office… remodeled too - the carpet is making me feel a little dizzy, too.

BHK is done with bloodwork - they gave her a caprisun? I thought real fruit juice was proper, not corn syrup? Ah well, we'll get some breakfast / lunch at home - lots of good eats there.

We go to Chessie's for subs - I get veggie & cheese, BHK gets a pizza-steak sub. I opt out of getting a haircut at the barber shop next door, as they only take cash. 7-11 next door has drinks and dessert - BHK starts on a slim jim to get her system back.

Tigger is asleep. BHK is Asleep. I'm doing stuff on the computer, and am enjoying the old disney flick.

Pretty impressive so far – I like it more than semagic, but I think Google docs is still better overall for my style.
Quick day today, Dropped off at the Library, got some groceries for tomorrow’s inauguration party, picked up some gummy dinosaurs (and hopefully, got an order in for gummy chicken feet for my birthday cake)
Fat-fingered a button, and stupidly invited everyone in my yahoo account to my facebook - Ah well, nobody there that I wouldn't mind saying hello to, but I hope I didn't bug my boss.

Tasty dinner of stir-fried veggies on more naan bread, vegetarian meatloaf (mostly garden eggplant) topped with sauce saved from our selby pickup! Super good, and uber-filling.
Dessert was a treat of choco-chip cookies!
BHK's birthday weekend starts tomorrow, though her birthday is on Monday - I took the day off for us to play! ... I think we'll have a grand time!

Magpies can recognize themselves in a mirror, confounding the notion that self-awareness is the exclusive preserve of humans and a few higher mammals. It had been thought only four species of apes, bottlenose dolphins, and Asian elephants shared the human ability to recognize their own bodies in a mirror. But German scientists reported on Tuesday that magpies, a species with a brain structure very different from mammals, could also identify themselves. It had been thought that the neocortex brain area found in mammals was crucial to self-recognition. Yet birds, which last shared a common ancestor with mammals 300 million years ago, don't have a neocortex, suggesting that higher cognitive skills can develop in other ways.

Addendum - Fab brew was closed - no muffin or coffee (why close for inventory on a *Sunday*???) - instead we got lunch in Deale. From there we brought the in-laws lemon cake and pie (chirs prefers cake, larry, the latter)... a brief stop off turned into a 4 hour pause of enjoying movies, petting Tigger and eating Chinese food. Not too shabby!
Napoleon Dynamite is not my thing, though. Too much irony, not enough wit for me.
After our eats, we returned home to laze about a bit more - BHK beat me at Balloon Cup, and it grew too late for If Wishes were Fishes.

Discombobulated and out of sorts today. Maybe I'm coming down with something? All BHK and I (mostly just me) did today was sleep and slug about.
Caught up with Alien in America... still have to polish off a few more tivo shows getting caught up due to writers strike and previously mentioned sluggishness.
Capsule TV reviews:
Alien in America - Good stuff, and got better at the end. I'm really surprised that something that has the potential to be a one-trick pony turned out as pleasant as this. I hope that they can stay on top of it, but still fear it'll lose steam.
Bionic Woman - Just isn't ringing my bell. Another case of "Buffy / Firefly" for me, maybe. I just can't get too enthused about it. Keeping it on the Tivo for when we have a rainy day and I'm willing to give the show another chance. Hasn't hit my "3 strikes" rule yet.
Chuck - (seen 2 eps including pilot) Failed so far where Alien in America has succeeded. I think it could improve once it gets some momentum.
Reaper (seen 2 eps, including pilot) - I like this more than BHK, but it also suffers from Chuck syndrome so far, but I think it could get better, too.
Journeyman (seen pilot) - so far, so good. I suspect this'll be then next one to be gobbled up, viewing-wise. Sadly, I think it has been cancelled.
I'm not sure where my energy went. I suspect it's post holiday fatigue.
Babysat Tigger again... she's a little love rag... doesn't seem to miss the in-laws much, as long as she's fed and petted now and again... not like clingy newt at all.

Quickie follow-up - We didn't see Juno - Both showings were sold out. Instead we hit Golden Compass. It was visually pleasing - script wise and acting wise, not so much. Ah, well. Sad day when armored polar bears and zeppelins *done right* can't make up for an otherwise poorly paced and poorly acted film.
A reminder - Compass is rated pg-13. Not for little kidlets, despite talking animals. There are some scary and violent moments not suitable for most young kids (or nervous grownups.)
Babysitting Miss Tigger today while the in-laws are off to Marion and Salem - doing some house care and visiting Larry's Folks.
Other than that, we're just taking it easy after I get my shots - Maybe we'll catch Sweeney Todd tomorrow as a matinee?

Hm... Archie McPhee has some nifty zombie toys. I wonder how they'd look on my desk at work? I wonder what other folks would think?
Tigger gaining weight - put her on diet kitty food... I wonder if she thinks that she needs to stock up, in case of being on her own again? She's not as svelte as she used to be. I think Newt and Pye need to visit her, and give her a running around the house partner or two.
I was creaky this weekend, but am feeling better this evening. A severe case of stumble-thumbosis overcame me this weekend, possibly due to poor sleep on Saturday? Well rested today, and things seem much more in control.
We opened up the pickles ! While a trifle mushy, they aren't nearly as over-spicy as I'd feared. I wonder how Miz Pix is doing, speaking of pickles?
Final counts on the 2007 summer Icehouse game competition are in - Pylon , Subdivision and Zamboni Wars won the challenge. I'm surprised that Penguin Soccer didn't do better. All the victors have valid games, but PS just had a fun theme and a reasonable set of rules, especially the 2-player option. I think that it seemed a little skewed, given that they didn't penalise missing entries.

Yesterday, I forgot to mention that I received Martian coasters, filler colors of icehouse stashes, and other ordered loot. I'm looking forward to playing them with BHK at our earliest convenience.
Awoke early - about 6:45 on a Saturday. EM was up at about 6:30, I think.
Read in bed:
- Olivia - classic. Olivia would be Eloise, if Eloise were a pig. She is good at singing 40 very loud songs and is very good at wearing people out. And scaring the living daylights out of her little brother, Ian, particularly when he copies her every move. She is also quite skilled at reproducing Jackson Pollock's "Autumn Rhythm #30" on the walls at home. When her mother tucks her in at night and says, "You know, you really wear me out. But I love you anyway," Olivia precociously pronounces, "I love you anyway too."
- Ain't gonna Paint No more - pretty spiffy, good rhythm, color and song.
- 93 in my family Now *that*'s a fun kids book. Reads well, stuff to look at on every page, terribly cute, and gives a message that's neat, too. Plus, a carsick hamster named Ed. We need more like this one.
- Where Have The Unicorns Gone? - Lovely Art, poorly written - it just doesn't flow.
BHK was tuckered out, and fell back asleep about midway through Olivia, so Em and I got up after reading and made necklaces with wooden beads and string from Em's kit - very pretty stuff.
Played some simple stacking and lining up games with dominoes and red & blue icehouse pyramids with Em while BHK slept - may have developed the seed of a new game! Stacking Pyramids on top of a domino board to collect points. Needs a little work, but if I can teach the basics to a 4-year-old and it's challenging to me, there could be a fun concept waiting to burst out.
Once BHK woke up, we all got cleaned up and headed out to take care of TM's kitties (see picture in yesterday's post ).
After many kitty snuggles, we all went to the marine museum to see the otters and the stingrays - it was also a Cradle of the Invasion day - folks dressed in garb of 1812, WWII, and modern style, showing how Marines in wartime lived and worked in the area. pretty neat. Apparently, in the 30s-40s, Tropical chocolate was mixed with paraffin wax so it wouldn't melt... the K rations had basically a chocolate candle to eat along with government supplied cigarettes. Lots of items about amphibious warfare that didn't interest Em too much, but I'd like to go back next time and spend a little while talking to the folks and getting some perspectives on things. My Grandfather on my mom's side was a Marine during WWII, and he never really talked too much about it, short of taking me to the VFW and hanging out with other vets. (That's where I got my first Shirley Temple.)
[edit - I forgot that we went to the amish market, and saw ducks and geese and chickens and goats and puppies and horses, and amish folks, and bought gingerbread and blueberry jam, and lemon meringue pie for Larry, and shoo-fly pie for us, and peppers to stuff with yum! - Sakes, we were busy]
Getting close to Lunch, so we headed off to Burt's [Edit - dang, why do I always call it Fred's?] for veggie burgers (em got popcorn shrimp) - good stuff, but I suspect the kids meal had more food than our veggie burger platter! We got puzzle place mats and crayons so we could color while we waited for our food.
Went to Aardvarks to pick up Early American Chrononauts (and ice cream - Play-doh is still my favorite... vanilla ice cream dyed bright yellow with red and blue chunks of sugar cookie dough mixed in. ) I suspect that I like Early American more than standard Chrononauts.
Chris and Larry's for Dinner - Hot Dogs on the Grill, beans, slaw, and all sorts of yum. BHK had to duck out and tend to Tina's Kitties again while Chris, Larry, Em and I hung out and chitty-chatted. Emily was very well behaved, and barely persnickety or bossy at all. She played very nicely with Tigger for hours.

Full and happy we all came home and crashed out.

1) Where did you meet your girl? Livejournal, actually - Sixish years ago, at least, when I was dating someone else. I think that I traded up nicely.
2) Is Newt still a vicious man-eater? He can be pretty aggressive to some folks, and a love to others. He hasn't seen any Newfs lately, but he still attacks most smokers with great vigor.
3) Recommend 3 fairly cheap 2 player, easy to learn, fun games that are outside the normal Milton Bradley/Hasbro line. Well, you already know about Fluxx and Carcassone, so I'll toss out Treehouse at about $10, you can't go too far wrong (see links above) (which is a gateway drug to other fun games, too) and Chrononauts, also linked above, a little bit more pricey at $20, (with both games the more the merrier, but two can play handily.)
4) Without sounding offensive and I hope you don't take this in the wrong way at all.. Has anyone ever mentioned that there is more than a slight resemblance between my Ex Wife and your Current Wife? Short of this question, nobody has... From what I can recall of her face, I don't really see the resemblance! Eyes, nose, facial shape, hair and skin all seem pretty different to me!

Best word about current media frenzy - Potterdämmerung. That is *perfect*. I figure that I'll get around to reading it eventually, but I'll blaspheme by using the public library (or if BHK wants to own a copy, I'll read hers when she's done.) I don't really care who lives or who dies, but I am interested in seeing how it all wraps up. I'm almost more interested in knowing what the "next big thing" will be, now that this is essentially all over; not counting the remaining movies, spin-offs, comics and whatnot.
We had a nice, luxuriously casual post-party day.
Originally, we intended to brunch with Cyn, but it seems that Joss doesn't have a Sunday brunch... besides, we're all sleepyheads anyhow. (Plus, Cyn was shaking off the effects of her prior-night's festivities.)
Instead, we opted to head to the new Jasper's (sort of a Bennigan's-type place), and munch some lunch. It was a mixed bag, but mostly good, I think. The bar area has 12 hypnotically eye-attracting TVs... even if just golf is showing on-air. I was more distracted by the pseudo-southwestern-indian rhino-sculpture with the bright red tail. Unfortunate choice of color for that region, as Cyn's first thought was urzbeeubvq, and mine was nany svfghyn. Hover over the text or use rot-13 to translate.
Apparently whenever we three get together, there's a common conversational theme that tends to crop up. I will not be linking to the terms Filthy Sanchez, Tony Danza, Cleveland Steamer, Dutch Oven or Satchmo... but if you do search for them, I'll just say it's not safe for work. (see the prior paragraph's last six words or so for a starter concept.
The food varied in quality - the veggie burger was probably my favorite, after the sweet potato. Crab dip was not the best, and that's going to be tough for 'em, given that this is crab country. The partner visited our table and asked how everything was.... and we gave a lot of compliments and a fair amount of criticism. I think that he appreciated our input, and that they'll do very well.
Since I haven't uploaded the rhino picture yet, here's a honeymoon photo of me in touristy-black socks & shorts, golfing with a gorilla, and BHK being beautiful in St. Augustine. I love that pic of her... it just makes me smile every time I look at her.
BHK and I watched Apocalypto across three houses, due to assorted cat-sitting duties for Tigger, Kiki and Chai - and polished off the last of it in our living room while munching on leftover party food. I really liked it. The story was really secondary to the setting and activity inside. The costume designer did a phenominal job, and if you get the dvd, check out "the making of" section. There were some moments that could've been scripted better, but the visuals were absolutely beautiful. I really liked that all of the actors were unknown to me - it made it much easier for me to take the characters as they were, rather than "that's the Rock, and Robin Williams, and Robert DeNiro!" Definately the best art direction that I can remember seeing in a film recently.
We never did get around to playing lunch money or Chez goth - we'll learn with Amy tomorrow! (if she doesn't prefer to play pirates, or video games) - I hear she's got a giant shark to trot out for our next battle.

I've never seen so much spoiler-fear as I have for the latest Harry Potter book. People refusing to go online, switching off emails, refusing to watch TV. I imagine some folks have abandoned the phone, too. A side effect of living in the information age, I guess.
Last night's dinner at Mexico was good, but the slowest it's ever been. Alberto (the manager) say with us and was very apologetic... we like him, and kidded back and forth about his brother out chasing skirts and drinking margaritas on the beach at the moment. Mother in law wouldn't let us pay all the way, but finally settled on using the money to take care of Tigger while MIL and FIL are in Salem this weekend. (Our weekend's going to be pretty busy, give that we're also watching Tina's kitties, having a Birthday party of Adam, Going to Sushi with Cyn and preparing for Amy's visit on Monday.)
In-laws are in Salem as of tonight, so they can get the house one last bit of spit and polish before the renters move in on the 27th. I fear they'll be more trouble than they're worth, but you never know... sometimes it can be handy to have someone on-site to keep track of things.

I'm pretty dang happy. Every day, some wonderful stuff happens. Added bonus, BHK gave me a lollipop for my info page today!Aw... that's very sweet! (no pun intended). I love her very much... each day I wonder more and more how I lived with Newt and nobody else all those years. Pye and BHK make the perfect additions to our family-team.
Last night I dreamt that BHK and I were hunting mosquitoes for the blood they consumed. Somehow, that blood was purified of known toxins, and if injected back into the original human hosts, they'd be immunized against all blood-borne diseases. I don't know why we were grabbing them and putting the bugs in brown paper bags, rather than some safer environment. I did know that you could just eat the bug and be cured, but we didn't know how many of these particular mosquitoes existed, and if the effects could be reproduced.
I'm wondering if I'll ever go to Walt Disney World again? I don't live in Florida, and the concept of "manufactured/processed joy" seems very different than "pure joy" pulled directly from the environment. I can have a lot of fun in the Westworld-type controlled experiment sore of scene, but there's a different vibe in simply walking around, taking in history, art and nature as it is. Considering that I'm not really up for roller coasters these days, I don't know if a journey to the more calm rides make it worthwhile. Pirates of The Caribbean and Haunted Mansion will always hold a special place for me... even if it's just because they're dark rides and are wonderfully air-conditioned after walking in the Florida sun for a few hours. I suspect EPCOT Center or Busch Gardens is more my speed for theme parks now, rather than the Magic Kingdom... or perhaps I'd feel differently if we just went and had fun. For a long while now, I've preferred exploration of the world around me... both on walkabout by myself, and now on journeys with BHK. I'm not sure if it's wrong that I'm more entertained by urban decay or aquariums than by singing puppets... just that my tastes have changed a bit. I like the irony of Disney's The Prisoner /Truman Show "friendly fascism"-style of better living in a plastic world... thanks in no small part due to hidden underground tunnels and secret police... but I'm also more than a little creeped out by it, too. I take it back. I find it *more* interesting as a result my irrational paranoia. I'd still rather wander a natural forest than a theme park, but Disney's weird overlord aspect could be pretty groovy. The Mouse is a not-so-shadowy figure pulling the puppet strings across the Florida landscape and beyond.
After work, we took a little trip to Aardvark's and let 'em know about the Strategist. He was cool - mentioned that he may have some out of print ice towers stuff that he'd be happy to hook us up with. We'll still need to get the treehouse die and pyramids book, but that's a good launching point. Meanwhile, we picked up Chez Goth to fool with while Amy's over.
Too full of ice cream to go to Fred's place for 50's diner stuff, we hit the grocery for tomorrow's party supplies and then the in-laws to babysit with Tigger for a few hours and watched 13th Warrior... by the middle of the movie we were read for eats - pizza worked for us. Tigger was a little sweetie.

Took BHK and her mom out for Mexican dinner last night, as the mom-in-law is a bachelorette while LB is in Salem, working on the house to be rented. I think CB will head up there with Tigger this weekend, and depending on how our guest plans pan out, perhaps BHK or possibly even the two of us will go up to help straighten things out as well.
I look at the commute to work with planner's eyes lately... which I find funny, due to suspicions that much of Maryland's growth has gone far outside any of her initial city / county-wide designs. The way a tiny village can swell to a small town and even a huge city like Baltimore is a fascinating evolution.
Perhaps it's due to my new job and playing Sim City / Carcassone-type games, but looking at residential areas, how roads, rivers and rail act as amazing connection between homes, churches, businesses, farms, graveyards and whatnot. There are many relationships between people and terrain. I love how almost every church here has an attached bone yard, and how broad the space can appear be between the towns. Sometimes, it's only one road into and out of town, which gives a huge sense of isolation, but also one of knowing that it is connected to *somewhere* else. The fact that I can wander around and see so much history (granted, the majority from the 18th century onward) fascinates me to no end. Sometimes when I look at places in Calvert County, I can mentally see what it was like before older structures weathered so much and the newer structures were put in between (or added onto the elder ones). Still-operating horse drawn buggies driven by the Amish frequently help with the visualization.
There are old bridge pilings without the road-sections across the top near 95 that look like ancient ruins; the new on-ramp doesn't really match the travel route of the old path. I wonder how many abandoned roads and paths were lost once asphalt and gasoline-powered vehicles became the standard?
Sometimes it seems like each little town is made from the same (or at least very similar) parts from the one just before it, up the road a ways. That church was on the other side of the road, and the tobacco barn was brown, not gold... and about a half-mile to the northeast. The whole place was at the foot of the hill, not the top. Sometimes it seems as if the people are slightly interchangeable, as well. Soccer mom with stroller and dog. Old geezer picking up trash on the side of the road. High school kids futzing around.
The Suburbs are different than the Commuter Towns of Bowie and Waldorf... I prefer North Beach to either of those locations.
Don't get me started on the DC roads. I don't blame L'Enfant's great design, as so many others came and revised the plans, but I'll always prefer a two-way travel grid-type situation over curves for major city roads. One-way streets that curve up onto themselves and don't simply run N/S or E/W is just asking for trouble. That said, it is a beautiful place to see.
Tonight's supper of zucchini and squash parm with cheese tortellini and salad was fantastic. The soy flour really holds onto the veggies better than wheat. BHK really did a fantastic job! There's a nice feeling when 80% of what's on the dinner table is grown in your back yard - The only things bought were the salad dressing, cheese tortellini, flour, and drinks. I'm really looking forward to our potatoes and peas coming in soon... I'm also contemplating soybeans and a beehive for next year. And maybe a pair of overalls and a wide-brimmed straw hat. ;)

Friday – CB shanghaied BHK almost immediately after BHK dropped me at work… CB was in the mood to shop and play hooky, so BHK was happy to be an accessory of sorts. About 4pm, BHK called to let me know that LB would be picking me up due to the severe shopitis that had overtaken CB. CB’s a member of the bataan death march school of outings, it seems.
While BHK was trudging through store after store in pursuit of CB’s bargain-quest, LB and I decided to head to the blue house to put some final touches on the camaro before Saturday’s car show, drove to Tina’s to show it to her, and then off to Thursday’s for a bite of dinner and conversation. Seven O’Clock came and went, so we toddled down the jetty to do a little fishing – more of an excuse to take in a nice bay breeze as the sun went down. We caught (and promptly released) a striped perch… who knew that there were actually fish out this early? Sorry, mr pisces!
They still hadn’t returned by dark, so we went back inside and hung out with Ms. Tigger and watched CSI / played PSP until they got back home at about 10:30.
On the way out, I noticed the in-laws clematis flowers were blooming nicely – took a few shots.
Saturday’s Car show was a hoot – got some color due to being out in the sun, saw plenty of classic bits of automotive technology, enjoyed LB’s company while BHK and TM went to an assortment of yard sales. Biggest prize was a $3 sheet cake obtained at one of the Yard / Bake Sales. I’m all for a tasty yellow cake with chocolate icing, enough to feed a roomful of people comfortably. BHK also picked up two antique books for me, one Legends of the Old West and another on the Rivers of the Chesapeake Bay, and obtained a huge serving platter for CB for mother’s Day for a pittance.

Busy busy – rep from dell isn’t coming in though, so that’s work saved for another day. Dead motherboard in a new box needs a swap.
Today’s lunch looks much like yesterdays, except you can swap the apple for green beans teriyaki w/almonds, and remove the tasty, tasty doughnut.
After work yesterday, I was surprised to see the in-laws with BHK had come to pick us up. CB,BHK and I took an early supper at Salsa Rita’s, while LB swung by 5 guys to grab a burger before joining the rest of us. I had a veggie burrito with a splash of enchilada sauce on top, as is my custom. Apparently, they did a little shopping on Solomon’s Island before picking me up… CB got BHK a peridot ring that is apparently quite stunning. (I haven’t seen it yet, but it sounds lovely.) Also planted is the seed of a stacking ring to go with her wedding band… perhaps with a channel-set green stone similar to peridot? Topaz is available in that same shade and hue, and is able to be cut thinly to make that sort of ring. Perhaps for our first anniversary or second (depending on cash flow issues) it would make a nice present. The huge beastie of a ring that CB got was a $3800 item… I’m a bit stunned at the cost, but I’m a guy who only wears one item of jewelry – my wedding band. (I had a necklace for a while, but it was hand-made by friends and was also sentimental. I still carry my red-thread wristband from Lisa on my hip-loop all the time too, primarily because my wrist is too large for it.
After dinner, LB and I went to Hot Licks to look at the guitars whilst BHK and CB headed over to the office depot to scope out supplies. Following that, we did a quick pop into the library for 1040 instruction sheets and state taxes for CB. No luck on the 1040, as the post office isn’t interested in carrying those items any longer – irs.gov will have ‘em online in any event.
Signs are up all over the neighborhood about a missing cat – we thought it was for Tigger, but it turns out the missing kitty is a male named Tiger with similar markings. If it’d been for Ms. Tigs, the postings were well over 2 weeks after she had been adopted. I feel bad for the family with the missing cat – the sign says that the children are distraught. I know I’d be more than very concerned if Newt or Pye got lost.
Less restless last night, though I re-tweaked my back a little. The ol’ spine is much better today, about the same tightness as the night prior. I’d say another week and I’ll not even notice it.
Riddle me this, Batman. If you’ve been at a gig just about 3 weeks, do you sign the sympathy card for someone at the office? I’m right on the cusp of doing so, but I’m not sure if it’d be appropriate.
[Edit: I signed it – kind or sympathetic wishes are rarely a bad idea.]
I was reminded by KE that JM’s position is opening at the county, so I’ve got to get on the stick and get a Maryland Driver’s License. I’m thinking a trip to the MVA this weekend is the way to do it. I did a little parking and turning last weekend, and it’s pretty straightforward.
I’m about 4 days behind in putting my lj entries online – It’s been difficult to do the doogie hauser routine in front of the home-based box with so many other things going on. My Lj will be seven years old in a couple of weeks, and these last few months are the most difficult it’s ever been maintaining daily entries. Of course, when I look back, there’ll still be one a day, every day… just put in the day’s slot nearly a week after the fact.
We do a lot of things here and there, even if it’s just entertaining or being entertained by family & local friends – Little wonder that BHK so seldom updates her own lj. We were in Lusby not too long ago, and we got to talking about CEJ, and to a lesser extent, KTM. I wonder if I’ll ever cross paths with either of ‘em, since I’m pretty much a local, now? We went past a seafood place called the Frying Pan and not a few doors down was the old church that CEJ took several photos of, years ago. If I were more curious, I’d see if I could dig ‘em up on archive.org’s website backups. I think I’d prefer to take my own piccies, anyhow.
Sincedanigolden gave grindhouse a positive review, I’m re-enthused about seeing it.

Taking it slow and easy today - back got pretty bad last night, but dr bhk and the nurse-kitties set me to feeling better this morning. Watching movies and internetting are about all I'm up to doing today.
I wonder how much of my cough is from springtime? The plum trees, japanese magnolia (I think) and willows are all ready to rock and roll. BHK brought me some flower seeds for our garden out back.
I just remembered... the best part of 300 was a preview for HOT FUZZ. - it looks great.
Found out bro is living with the girl who sent him to jail, and lied in court to cover her butt. He's been behaving quite badly since he got out, and I suspect he'll be back in before we know it. (he got a year's probation, narrowly dodging 3-5 years in the clink)
