Except me. I had a pair of tan/brown pants, brown shoes, white shirt with a smattering of black, gray, and reddish brown stripes.
Half of me wondered if I got on the right vehicle; the other half wondered why I didn't get the memo.
I don't mind - I come home to a colorful crew with BHK at the helm.
It seems that Pye prefers Newtcam, and newt prefers to be on Pyecam. (Newt likes the little window ledge upstairs...Pye likes the bed upstairs. They both seem to duel over the office and living room windows.
DC is 5th in road rage. Ha... Miami is #1 ! Maybe that's why I don't so bent out of shape on the beltway. DC, see also re:FL. Me, I'm pleased as punch to be where I am.
Off to Arlington, VA (right near Ballston) for a NetForum Users Group meeting on Friday - pretty much all day long. I wonder if there's anything BHK and I would like to do in that environment, after the meeting is over? I figure I'll head home, unless we need to stop off at the Pentagon for something - which I doubt.
This weekend plans include (in varying degrees of probability, but all of them nifty):
Aardvark
Em's ballet recital
Artomatic
Those that aren't hit this weekend, will be hit in the future, to be sure.
The Comic Book Script Archive … interesting list of scripts from a ton of authors… From the Moore’s intro to the Killing Joke script: ‘I want you to feel as comfortable and unrestricted as possible during the several months of your bitterly brief mortal lifespan that you’ll spend working on this job, so just lay back and mellow out. Take your shoes and socks off. Fiddle around in between your toes. Nobody cares.’
How to find images on the internet, an extensive list of links and resources.
Semi-related - cool list of icons! I wonder how many I'll see in use over the next couple of months?
FontStruct is an awesomely simple online font creation tool. Just draw on a grid with simple Photoshop-like tools, save, and download a TrueType version of the fonts you've just created. Hmm.. If only I had a graphics tablet, I could make a font of my handwriting, as messy as that might be.

Thank you, cardboard graffiti artist, for making tuesday extra fun!
The thought was to go to the movies after my midday stuff, but neither BHK nor myself were really up to it - sort of fragged out and just wanted to get home.
Movies:
Despite all the reviews to the contrary, I suspect that I'll like Hancock more than Iron Man. More than either of those, I want to see Wall-E.
Indy 4 I don't have high hopes for, but I'm certainly going to see it if possible. I just want it to be better than National Treasure 2.
We still have netflix copies of Cloverfield and No Country for Old Men - Maybe next weekend for those.
Guys like this, *and* the people he sat in front of are two reasons I don't like going to movies on opening night. If you don't like what's going on, either tell the manager, or leave. Those kids had witnesses and there are cameras in most theaters... his behavior was good at least for an assault charge, maybe battery too. (I'll leave that to my wife's legal knowledge.) Add to that that he's far from a minor, and they were... way to lead by example.
Jailbreak 0.4 is out.. looking pretty sharp! I'll get to it after I finish the Orange Box and Bioshock. (got 'em both for xmas, but I'm having too much fun doing other stuff to goof single player on the 'pooter these days!

In this video, a camera crew follows a city official to a trapdoor hidden in a Tokyo sidewalk, which opens to a narrow stairway leading to a giant underground warehouse stocked with emergency supplies.
Located 20 meters (65 ft) underground, the 1,480 square meter (16,000 sq ft) space contains emergency supplies to be distributed to the public in the event of a major earthquake. Items include 5,000 blankets, 8,000 rugs, 4,000 candles, 300 cooking pots, 200 t-shirts, and emergency medical supplies. A conveyor belt system is installed to help transport the supplies up to street level.
The underground warehouse is connected to an unnamed station on the Oedo line, Tokyo’s deepest subway. Apparently, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government maintains more than one of these warehouses, but the locations are kept secret.
I'm sorry, but naming a restaurant "Brown and Green" just makes me laugh and laugh and not think of anything I want to consume, despite my fondness for those two colors.
I do think that the Twins seem the most likely to win (and should do so, even if BHK prefers Lloyd and Adawa), but my gut is telling me that TM's ex-Doug -looking guy and his wife are going to win. How bad is that? I can't even remember their names... the bald jerky and his wife. I guess I shouldn't feel too bad... I can't think of the names of the twins now, either. Those guys argue too much for me, and don't seem to have a sense of pleasure doing ther job they're given. Even the not so bright couple seemed to be looking to have a good time of it - and they were told not to go into the business at all.
"I hope that we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

Me in the office, post saying Shazam! Regarding Uncle Dudley/Uncle Marvel. During the classic era, an old man named Dudley (who was clearly modeled after W. C. Fields) claimed that he was not only a relative of the Marvels but also a Marvel himself, although neither was true. The Marvels took a liking to him and decided to humor him, and "Uncle" Dudley became Uncle Marvel, the Marvel Family's manager. He'd make his "transformation" along with one or more of the others, but not by magic; rather, by quickly removing his break-away garments (under the cover of lightning that the real Marvel(s) called down) to reveal his homemade Marvel costume underneath. He explained his lack of super-powers by claiming he suffered from "shazambago". In modern continuity, Dudley H. Dudley is simply a janitor at Billy's school who finds himself involved in Marvel Family adventures, although in one story he was temporarily given Shazam powers to help round up the escaped Seven Deadly Enemies of Man.
Oh, my Shazambago!
Green monkey-alien in a bubble. He's wearing his bubble summoning-belt, of course. He's been climbing a lot, note his filthy hands and feet. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a damn, dirty ape, however. I was thinking a little bit of Rescue on Fractalus recently, thus the cheesy lines and markings. The hammerhead alien Jaggi had great pop-up spook value in his day. Soft hearted for Planet of the Apes, Martian Manhunter, and Bubble-force fields all unwrapped into that, I guess.
Dealing with "customer service" regarding bugs, bug fixes, and time lines. I seemed to get only one word answers, with no detail as to where, when or how items would be fixed. I ultimately got it worked out, via my own trouble tree and specific questions, but it was like pulling teeth... on a rampaging hippo. I'm just glad that it's now mostly functioning.
Dreamt of our bathroom being tiled with Hershey bars, and grouted with marshmallow. Hershey bars aren't my absolute fave... why not milky ways, or mars bars? I guess the flat rectangle looks more like tile to my sleeping mind. Last night after work Chris, BHK and I went to Maerten's, to check out the sale preview. Chris bought a ton of nice stuff... BHK got a cute pair of sterling bumblebee earrings and a little silver bean / bead on a box chain. Honestly, I like what BHK got more, though Chris's items were pretty, too. Post sale, we hit Thai Inter for some yummy feed. It was a bit of a hike to return home late afterwards, but I think it was worth it - the gals had fun.
I can't say as I've ever referred to anything as "a real corker." I'd think that I might've, but probably not. I prefer "it's a hoot!" or the like.
Pleased that we did get the 2007 homestead exemption after all, but looks like 2008 is a no-go. at least we have time to save up a wee bit before 4/15/2009.

Especially telling is this line -
On four recorded occasions in the last 50 years, chimpanzees have abducted, killed and eaten human babies. That's human with an H, as in Homo Sapiens, as in a human baby getting wrenched out of its mother's arms, dragged off into the forest and devoured by a chimp. We are not making this up. (Note, link is not for the weak of heart.)

Gary Gygax, R.I.P. - thanks for getting the ball rolling on the hobby.
My first thought is of him on Futurama.... "Greetings! It's a (rolls 20-sided die... pause) pleasure to meet you!" and signing his EGG initials into one of the crashed vegepygmy spaceship levels from Expedition to the Barrier peaks.
Oddly enough, the Library above is where I first met most of my fellow D&D players as a community - before that, Kevin Cummins and I sort of played the blue paperback version at Unity School... (7th grade)
To counter the bad news with awesomeness, Mountain Wingsuit! Wile E. Coyote meets a Flying Squirrel outfit that seems to work. Holy Moley.
I blame BHK for the Avril Levine song going through my head. "Hey Hey, You You, I don't like your girlfriend". AIEEGHaba! I fear I may have to consult the big book of earworms to counter this. I forgot that she wanted to buy Pye a bunny-head hat for easter. Ol' Pye dodged a bullet on that one, but can BHK resist the allure of kitty wigs ?
50 things I've done, continued from yesterday. 11-20.
11.'worked as a roofer in South Florida, in August - probably the most physically demanding job I've ever done, or ever will. Tar, mops, gravel, sun, drunken coworkers = some sort of Zenny Hell. I liked it for a while, and then pretty much burned out on it. Fortunately, I got an indoor, air-conditioned gig surrounded by books shortly after.
12.'Used to play in the band in jr. high and high school. Baritone / Sousaphone / Tuba were the primaries, though Alto Sax was there for a short period. I'm very slowly but surely picking up the electric bass, and look forward to getting into the stand-up bass, and going from there to a 6-string. I can read music, and should brush up on my recorder skills, too... a lot more portable than the guitar. Maybe the Ukulele will be a happy medium.
13.'Once scarred my leg as a result of swinging a trash bag in a circle while singing the theme song to the Godzilla cartoon. There was a glass bottle in the trash, and it smacked the ground, shattering as I swing it... it swooped back around and gouged a healthy gash in my shin.
14.'was wrestling with my younger brother after shooting at squirrels with bb guns, and rolled with him off of the roof our house in Boynton. I'm more ashamed of shooting at the squirrels than I am of flinging myself and him bodily into the void, only to come crashing down.
15.'has written and submitted (without an agent) 15 stories of varying lengths to assorted magazines and book companies. I fear that many are doomed to the slush pile forever.... despite this, I have been published in a few different paper-based publications thanks to my livejournal (popular science) and unknown armies 2nd edition,(for flavor text). I keep saying that I want to sit down and get back into actually writing some more, but finding that hour a day just isn't there.... it's much simpler to babble in a journal entry while on the bus than it is to write solid text, even if it's just foolish fluff stuff.
16.'was once so soundly asleep that my charges couldn't wake me up once the parents got home....I was out cold until daylight the next day. I still don't know why they didn't call my parents, but instead chose to have me just sleep over. If you couldn't wake me up, I'd say call a doctor. I never sat for Abra and Tracy again. I was 13 or so.
17.'has seen a UFO, in the truest sense of the word... Just some unknown item flying overhead. I doubt seriously that it was anything extra-terrestrial. A red, slow-moving, cigar shaped cloud, sundog or balloon, maybe.
18.'lived on dry cap'n crunch and water for 3-4 days after Hurricane Wilma... Newton had more palatable food than me! No power for A/c, fridge or light for more than a few days.
19.'called the cops on a guy who was getting beaten up by two other fellows - turned out he was a drug dealer who burned them on a transaction. None of them were arrested. See Frankie the Mooch for a timeline of my encounters with him.
20.'was evacuated by a SWAT team with Newton from apartment, because landlord was despondent over the loss of his nose... was threatening gunfire to himself and others.
I'm beginning to wonder if I can make it to 50 items.

Rice and Beans combined with the last of our yummy thai/curry soup. I swear that BHK is an amazing chef. I suspect that if she went back into the restaurant field that she'd have quite a following.
We watched Curse of the Golden Flower last night... it seemed to continue forever, and didn't grab me at all. I think that I was expecting Hero or House of Flying Daggers, and it just wasn't that sort of flick. The sets and visuals were nice, but it just didn't elicit any strong feelings or thought processes from me.
More pictures from our sushi night on Sunday, and another picture of the "Prisoner Inn" - Flickr uploader has been very flukey lately. It cuts off uploads midstream and drops items from the queue... I may just go with the web interface from now on.

Last weekend, I couldn't sleep at one point.. played a little Tf2, loaded the 2nd life update, but didn't log on, and got to the last level (haven't completed it) of Portal. So far portal-wise, I've gotten 4 accomplishments - not bad, given that I play about 20 minutes or so at a time, and half of that is spent just piddling around the environment.

Something good from W. Bush - on Friday, February 15, 2008, the President signed into law:
H.R. 3541, the "Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007," which prohibits the automatic removal of telephone numbers registered on the Federal "do-not-call" registry; and
S. 781, the "Do-Not-Call Registry Fee Extension Act of 2007," which extends permanently the authority of the Federal Trade Commission to charge fees to telemarketers required to access the Federal "do-not-call" registry and specifies the fees to be charged.
Both measures passed the House on a voice vote and cleared the Senate by unanimous consent.

The ride home on the subway wasn't too bad... did a lot of people take today off, to recover form the Superbowl?
Speaking of which - It looked like Jordin Sparks was lip-syncing at the Superbowl yesterday, but it could just be a delay between the audio and video but it had a prerecorded feel - she wasn't selling it... I wonder why more people haven't commented on that, and the weird stock-footage air show? Tom Petty did a good job, and everything lined up audio and video-wise. I wasn't crazy about fake fans rushing his stage... he really is turning into an old mountaineer, facially.

Presenting a doodle for the coloring book done on the palm while on the subway, then fiddled with GIMP once back home. I was thinking about making him more beveled looking, but rather dig the 2D vs 3D vibe going there. I'd like to see the coloring book community revitalized again.

36. Somehow running into a bear trap
56. Somehow getting himself into a belfry and then realizing that a bell is there, just as it strikes the hour
78. Being thrown under a New Orleans Mardi Gras parade float by a mean guy in a gorilla suit who gives David a few kicks for good measure
95. Falling out of a plane without a parachute, then being given a parachute (which causes the person who pushed him to be told "That guy has nine lives", to which the mean person responds by pulling out a rifle and saying "Yeah, but I got ten rounds"), and then having the straps to his parachute shot off when he is still 30 feet above an empty house so that he falls through the roof and hurts himself
106. Being fed poisoned sushi
112. While paralyzed for the episode, somehow getting caught in the middle of a barroom brawl, and while trying to quietly wheel himself out of the room, being hit by a flying body and knocked down the stairs (what David is even doing in such a situation goes unexplained)
